people without dreams yield for nothing

you wouldn't believe the coats. everyone of them more elegant than the next. all designs. all makes. all cuts. all colors. mostly gray. and we stand across the street. dreaming. shifting in our skin pretending not to care. fighting the urge to call out. terrified. they make jokes about law school. they cackle about nothing. they make careful calculations. they make HUGE mistakes. they lean on each other. they transform. they are indecisive. and we bicker about trades, legislation, and seek relevance. seek the comforts of being current while appearing traditional. we are casual. no more formalities. we scream at the top of our lungs in galley kitchens and filthy backyards. desperate to be heard. saying nothing. covering our tracks. competing for gray coats.
